Elbe

The Elbe River is like a giant, winding snake made of water! It begins its journey way up high in the Giant Mountains, which are in a country called the Czech Republic. From there, it wiggles and giggles through the land, visiting cities and towns.

It’s so long, it travels through two big countries, the Czech Republic and Germany, before finally splashing into the big, salty North Sea. Think of it as a super-duper long waterslide for water!

The Elbe River isn't alone on its adventure! It has lots of smaller rivers, called tributaries, that join it along the way, like friends holding hands. These helpers bring more water to the Elbe, making it bigger and stronger.

Some of these river friends are named Vltava, Ohře, and Saale. Together, the Elbe and all its friends make a huge watery playground that covers a lot of land, almost like a giant puddle that spans across countries!

People love to live near the Elbe River because it's so useful! Big cities like Hamburg and Prague are built right on its banks. Imagine a school bus – the Elbe River is much, much longer than that! It's so wide in some places that big boats can sail on it, carrying all sorts of things. This river has been important for a very, very long time, helping people travel and trade goods between places.

The Elbe River is a super important part of nature. It’s a home for fish and other creatures that live in the water. It also helps water the plants and trees that grow nearby. The river’s journey is about 1,094 kilometers long, which is like walking to school and back many, many times! It’s a vital part of the land it flows through, connecting different places and bringing life.
