Edirne: A City of Stories!

Edirne is a city in Turkey, a country far away! It's like a special spot in the northwest corner, super close to two neighbors: Greece and Bulgaria. Think of it like being at the corner of a playground where three different games are happening!

It's not too far from the sea, which is always exciting. The weather there can be warm in the summer, perfect for playing outside, and cooler in the winter.

A long, long time ago, Edirne was a HUGE deal! It was the second capital city of the Ottoman Empire, which was like a giant kingdom. This was before the capital moved to a super famous city called Constantinople. So, for many years, important kings and queens lived and worked in Edirne, making big decisions that shaped history. It was a place filled with palaces and grand buildings!

Today, Edirne is a busy city where people work and live. They make and sell beautiful things like colorful carpets and soft silks. They also grow yummy food! Lots of people visit Edirne because it's so interesting. It's a place where old stories meet new adventures. The city is also home to many people, all living and working together.

Just like your school has a principal, cities have leaders called mayors. Edirne has a mayor who helps run the city and make sure everything is working well. Recently, a new mayor named Filiz Gencan Akin was chosen to lead. She's a lawyer, which means she knows a lot about rules and helping people. She took over from the mayor who was there for 10 whole years!
