Eastern theater of the American Civil War

The Eastern theater was like a giant playground for soldiers during the American Civil War! It stretched across states like Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The main goal for one side, the Union, was to capture Richmond, Virginia, which was the capital for the other side, the Confederacy.

One of the most famous battles happened in Pennsylvania called the Battle of Gettysburg. This was a HUGE win for the Union army! It was so important that it helped turn the tide of the war.
