Domitian

Imagine a super important leader in ancient Rome called an Emperor! Domitian was one of them. He was born in Rome a long, long time ago, in the year 51 AD. He became Emperor in 81 AD and ruled for about 15 years. He was part of a famous Roman family, the Flavians, and his dad was Emperor Vespasian and his brother was Emperor Titus. He was a big deal in the Roman Empire!

Domitian loved to build! He made Rome even more beautiful. He finished a giant stadium called the Colosseum, which is like a super-sized playground for games and shows.

He also built a big palace for himself on top of a hill called the Palatine Hill. It was so grand, it was called the Domus Augustana. He even built a new stadium for athletic games, the Stadium of Domitian, where the Piazza Navona is today!

Domitian was known for being very serious and sometimes a bit strict. He liked to be in charge and made sure things were done his way. He was also very interested in the army and made sure they were well-trained and equipped. He wanted Rome to be strong and safe. Sometimes, people found him a bit scary because he had a lot of power and didn't always like people disagreeing with him.

We remember Domitian because he was an Emperor who left his mark on Rome. He built amazing structures that people still talk about today, like the Colosseum. He also helped to make the Roman Empire strong during his time. Even though he was a strict ruler, his buildings and his reign are important parts of Roman history. He showed how powerful an Emperor could be!
