David Cameron

Imagine being the captain of a giant ship, steering it through calm seas and stormy weather. That's a bit like what David Cameron did! He was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2016.

This means he was the main person in charge, making big decisions for the country. He used to be the leader of a big team called the Conservative Party, like being the captain of a football team. He even became a Member of Parliament, which is like being a super-important student representative for his town!

David Cameron was born a long, long time ago, in 1966. He went to special schools, like Eton College, which is a bit like a very old and fancy boarding school. Then he went to Oxford University, which is like a super-smart college for grown-ups.

After studying hard, he decided to work in politics. He became a Member of Parliament, which means he got to go to a special building in London to help make laws. He worked his way up, becoming the leader of his party before becoming Prime Minister!

When David Cameron was Prime Minister, lots of important things happened. His government helped organize the amazing London Olympics in 2012, where athletes from all over the world competed. He also made a big decision to let people vote on whether the UK should stay in a big club of countries called the European Union.

This was a really important vote! He also helped make new laws, like one that made it legal for people of the same sex to get married. He even helped make the UK's healthcare system, the NHS, a bit different.

Even after he stopped being Prime Minister, David Cameron kept being involved in important jobs. He helped a charity that researches Alzheimer's disease, which is a condition that affects people's memories. Then, in 2023, he took on a new big job as the Foreign Secretary.

This means he was in charge of talking to other countries and making sure the UK had friends around the world. He even became a 'Lord', which is like a special title that lets him sit in a very old and important part of the government called the House of Lords.
