Darwin, Northern Territory

Darwin is a special city way up north in Australia, like the very top of a pointy hat! It's the biggest city in the Northern Territory, which is a huge part of Australia. Darwin sits right on the edge of a beautiful big harbor, like a giant bathtub. It's also super close to countries like Indonesia, which is like being neighbors with another country across the sea!

Darwin has two main kinds of weather: a wet season and a dry season. During the wet season, it rains a LOT, like a giant water balloon bursting! You might see amazing lightning shows and sometimes big storms called cyclones. But during the dry season, the sky is clear and a nice breeze blows from the harbor, making it feel just right.

Darwin has a cool history! It was named after a famous scientist named Charles Darwin. The city has been rebuilt four times because of big storms and even during a war! Imagine having to rebuild your whole town! This shows how strong the people of Darwin are.

Lots of people call Darwin home! The first people to live in this area are called the Larrakia people. They have lived here for a very, very long time. Aboriginal people are also a big part of Darwin's story. Darwin is a place where different cultures come together, making it a vibrant and interesting city.
