Dallin H. Oaks

President Dallin H. Oaks is a very important leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He became the president of the church in 2018! Before that, he was a counselor, which is like a vice president, for many years. He has a very special job helping to lead and teach people all around the world. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1932, in a place called Provo, Utah.

When Dallin H. Oaks was a kid, he loved to learn. He went to college and studied how to count money, like an accountant!

Then, he went to a special school to become a lawyer. He was so good that he even got to work for the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court! That's like being a super-important helper for the most important judge in the whole country.

He was even considered to become a Supreme Court justice himself, twice! That's like being almost chosen to be a superhero judge for the whole country!

Guess what? Before becoming a church president, Dallin H. Oaks was the president of a huge university called Brigham Young University (BYU)! Imagine being in charge of a place with thousands of students and teachers. He was the boss there for nine whole years! He helped make important decisions for the students and the school. It shows he's always been a great leader, even when he was younger.

Dallin H. Oaks also became a judge on the Utah Supreme Court. This means he helped make big decisions about laws. He was like a referee for important legal games! He was a judge for a few years before he was called to be an Apostle in the church. Being an Apostle means he travels and teaches people about faith. He's been a judge, a university president, and now a church president – wow!
