Cristina Fernández de Kirchner

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is a very important person from Argentina, a country far away in South America. She was the President of Argentina, which is like being the captain of a big ship! She was the boss for eight whole years, from 2007 to 2015. Before that, she was also the First Lady when her husband was President. She's like a superhero who decided to help run her country!

Cristina was born a long time ago, in 1953. She studied to be a lawyer, which means she learned all about rules and laws. Then, she and her husband, Néstor, moved to a city called Río Gallegos. She started working in government, first in her local area and then all the way up to being a senator in the big national government! It was like climbing a ladder to reach the very top job.

Cristina was the second woman ever to become President of Argentina, and she was the first one to be chosen by the people in an election! That's a really big deal. She made big decisions, like bringing some companies back to be owned by the country. She also cared a lot about making sure people were treated fairly, which is called human rights.
