Cooperation Sea

Cooperation Sea is a special part of the big, cold Southern Ocean, way down south near Antarctica. It's like a giant watery playground between two icy lands called Enderby Land and West Ice Shelf. It's so big, it covers an area as large as many, many school buses lined up!

This sea is bordered by another sea called Davis Sea on one side and a place called Cosmonauts Sea on the other. It’s a very remote and chilly spot on our planet.

This sea got its name a long time ago, in 1962, from scientists from a country called the Soviet Union. They named it 'Cooperation Sea' to celebrate how scientists from different countries can work together, like best friends, to study Antarctica. It’s a reminder that sharing ideas helps us learn more about our world.

Even though it has this special name, not all maps show it yet, but it’s a name that means working together is super important!

Because it’s in Antarctica, Cooperation Sea is very, very cold! The water is icy, and the land nearby is covered in thick ice. It’s not a place where people live all the time, but scientists sometimes visit.

They might have a research station nearby, like Davis Station, where they live and work for a while. Imagine wearing lots of warm clothes all the time because it's always chilly, even in the summer!
