Chicago Picasso

Right in the heart of Chicago, in a place called Daley Plaza, stands a super-duper tall sculpture! It's made of steel and looks like a giant, abstract dog. It’s so big, it’s like having a playground right in the city! Kids love to climb on its base and slide down. It’s a fun place to meet up with friends and imagine what the artist was thinking!

A very famous artist named Pablo Picasso created this amazing sculpture. He was a super creative person who liked to make art in new and exciting ways. He made a small model first, like a toy version, and then it was made into this giant one for everyone to see. He even said it looked like the head of his own pet dog, an Afghan Hound named Kabul!

This giant sculpture is 50 feet tall. That’s taller than a giraffe, and even taller than a four-story building! It’s also super heavy, weighing as much as 162 cars! It’s made of a special kind of steel that looks a bit rusty, but that’s how it’s supposed to be. It’s a strong and sturdy friend for the city.

Guess what? This giant sculpture was a gift to the city of Chicago! The artist, Pablo Picasso, didn't want any money for it. Instead, he wanted to give it to the people of Chicago. Three special foundations helped pay for it to be built. It’s a wonderful present that makes the city look amazing and gives everyone a fun place to play.
