Charles the Fat

Charles the Fat was a king a super long time ago, in Europe. He was born around the year 839. He became king of many different places, like France and Germany! But he wasn't always called 'the Fat.' That was a nickname people gave him later because he got very, very big. He was so big that it made it hard for him to do kingly things.

Charles was part of a famous royal family called the Carolingians. His dad was a king too! Charles inherited a lot of land and became the ruler of a huge area. He was like the boss of many countries all at once! He even got to be the Emperor, which was like being the super-king of all the kings. It was a lot of power for one person!

As Charles got older, he became very overweight. This made him tired and maybe a little bit grumpy. Because he was so big, he found it hard to ride horses or lead his armies. Some people think his size made him less strong as a ruler. He also got sick a lot. It's important to remember that even kings have health problems, just like us!

Even though Charles was king of so many places, his kingdom didn't stay together for long. People started to get unhappy with him, maybe because he was sick or because he couldn't manage everything. Eventually, the different parts of his kingdom broke away, and he lost control. He died in the year 888, and his big kingdom was gone.
