Meet the Speedy Sled!

Imagine a super-fast sled, like a long, shiny bathtub on runners, that can hold two or four people. That's a bobsleigh! Athletes climb in, tuck down, and push off with all their might. Then, gravity takes over, and they zoom down a winding, icy track. It's like a roller coaster, but the people are steering!

Where Did This Cool Sport Come From?

Bobsleigh started a long, long time ago in Switzerland, a country with lots of snowy mountains. Back in the late 1800s, people started attaching steering handles to the front of sleds. They realized they could steer them down icy paths. Soon, it became a fun way to race, and people started building special tracks just for bobsleigh.

Why Bobsleigh is So Awesome!

Bobsleigh is exciting because it's all about speed and teamwork! The sled can go faster than a car on the highway, reaching speeds of over 90 miles per hour. It takes a strong team working together to push the sled at the start and then steer it perfectly through the twists and turns. It's a thrilling winter sport!

How to Ride the Ice!

First, the team has to push the heavy sled as fast as they can. This gives it a good start. Then, they all jump in and lie down. The driver uses ropes to steer the sled, trying to find the best path down the track. The other team members help keep the sled balanced. It's a race against the clock!
