Bernice King

Bernice King is the youngest daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a very important leader in the fight for civil rights. She was born on March 28, 1963.

When she was just five years old, her dad was sadly assassinated. Even though she was very young, Bernice grew up to be a lawyer and a minister, just like her father wanted people to be kind and peaceful. She works hard to share her father's message with everyone.

Bernice King believes in something called 'Nonviolence 365'. This means using peaceful ways to solve problems every single day of the year! Imagine if everyone on the playground used kind words instead of shouting. That's what Nonviolence 365 is all about. Bernice leads the King Center, a place that teaches people how to be peaceful, even when things are tough. It's like a school for kindness!

When Bernice was 17, she got to speak at the United Nations, a big meeting place for countries all over the world. She was also invited to give a special sermon, which is like a powerful speech in church, 20 years after her father's death. She wanted to make sure his dream of a fair and peaceful world kept going.

She even helped her mom, Coretta Scott King, and spoke at her funeral when she passed away.

Bernice King is a strong leader who wants to make the world a better place. She believes that her father's ideas about nonviolence can help fix problems in schools, businesses, and even in sports! She is a role model for kids everywhere, showing them that they can be brave and stand up for what is right, using peaceful methods.
