Belgium's Amazing Olympic Adventure in Rio!

Imagine a super-team of 108 athletes, like a whole school bus full of friends, heading to Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympics! That's Belgium's team! They came from a country called Belgium, which is in Europe. These athletes were super brave and tried their best in 19 different sports, from racing bikes to swimming fast.

Guess what? Belgium brought home six shiny medals! That's like getting six special stickers for doing a great job. Two were gold, two were silver, and two were bronze. One of the gold medals was won by Greg Van Avermaet, who raced his bike so fast he was the first winner of the whole Olympics! Wow!

The cyclists were super speedy and won a lot of medals for Belgium. But something extra special happened too! The boys' field hockey team won a silver medal. This was amazing because it was the first time in almost 100 years that a team sport from Belgium won a medal. That's like waiting a really, really long time for something cool to happen!

Nafissatou Thiam won a gold medal in a super tough event called the heptathlon, where she did seven different sports! Pieter Timmers won a silver medal in swimming, and he was the first Belgian swimmer to win a medal in a super long time. Even judo and track cycling had medal winners.
