Why Were They Fighting?
Long, long ago, England and France were in a big fight called the Hundred Years' War. It was like a super long game of tag that lasted over 100 years! The English army was trying to take over parts of France. The French people really wanted to keep their homes and their king. This battle was a super important moment in that big, long war.

On June 18, 1429, a special group of French soldiers, called the vanguard, were ready for action. They were led by two brave captains, La Hire and Jean Poton de Xaintrailles. Even though a famous hero named Joan of Arc was around, she stayed with the main army. The French soldiers were super speedy and surprised the English knights who were trying to escape. It was a very fast and exciting fight!

The French soldiers were amazing! They were so good that they captured almost all the important English leaders. Only one leader got away! This victory was a giant turning point.
