Bandar Seri Begawan

Bandar Seri Begawan is the super cool capital city of Brunei, a country in Asia. It's like a big, busy town where lots of people live and work. A really special part of this city is built right on the water!

It's called Kampong Ayer, and it's like a village of houses on stilts, floating on the Brunei River. It's so big, people call it the 'Venice of the East' because it has canals like the famous city of Venice in Italy!

This city is home to amazing places! There's the Istana Nurul Iman, which is the biggest palace in the whole world where the Sultan lives. It's so huge, it's bigger than 10 football fields put together! You can also see the beautiful Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, with its shiny golden dome that sparkles in the sun. It's like a giant golden bubble floating in the sky!

A long, long time ago, people in Brunei lived in houses built on boats and rafts on the river. This was the start of the water village! Over many years, more people came, and they started building houses on land too. During a big war, the city was even bombed, but it was rebuilt and became even stronger. In 1984, Brunei became its own country right in the middle of this city!

In Bandar Seri Begawan, people work in all sorts of jobs. Some people work for the government, which is like the team that runs the city and country.
