Meet the Giant!

The Badshahi Mosque is a super grand building in Pakistan, like a palace for prayers! It's made of beautiful red stone with shiny white marble bits. It was built a very, very long time ago, even before your grandparents were born! It's so big that many, many people can fit inside to pray together. It's one of the most famous buildings in the whole country!

A Royal Builder!

A powerful king named Aurangzeb wanted to build this amazing mosque. He was an emperor, which is like a super king! He ordered it to be built between 1671 and 1673. That's over 350 years ago! It took about two years to build this giant structure. Imagine how many workers it took to move all those heavy stones and carve the decorations!

Bigger Than a Playground!

This mosque is HUGE! It was the biggest mosque built during the time of the emperors. It's still one of the biggest mosques in Pakistan today. It's so big that it could probably fit a whole school playground inside! It's also located right across from another famous building called the Lahore Fort, like two giant friends standing next to each other.

Pretty Decorations!

The outside of the Badshahi Mosque is decorated with amazing patterns. It uses red sandstone, which is a type of rock, and has white marble pieces put into it, like a fancy puzzle. This makes it look super special and beautiful. People from all over come to see how pretty it is and to learn about the olden days.
