Zooming Through the Sky!

The Avro Arrow was a super-duper airplane that Canada almost made! It was designed to fly faster than sound, like a rocket, and way, way up high, higher than any bird you've ever seen. It had a special shape called a delta wing, like a triangle, which helped it fly super fast. This amazing plane was meant to be the best protector for Canada's skies.

Built for Speed!

This airplane was going to be incredibly fast. It was designed to go twice the speed of sound! That's like running so fast you're a blur. It was also supposed to fly higher than 50,000 feet, which is taller than 100 skyscrapers stacked on top of each other! They were building it to be a real superhero of the sky.

A Big Surprise!

The first Arrow plane was shown to the world on the same day a famous satellite called Sputnik was launched into space. That was a HUGE day for science and flying! The Arrow flew really well in tests, reaching super-fast speeds. It was like a race between the Arrow and the stars!

What Happened to the Arrow?

Sadly, even though the Arrow was amazing, the project was stopped. All the parts and even the planes that were being built were destroyed. It's like a story that ended before the best part. Many people were sad because they thought the Arrow could have been the best airplane ever!
