The Australian Greens: Friends of the Planet!

The Australian Greens are a group that works all over the big country of Australia! Imagine a giant island with amazing beaches, huge deserts, and fluffy kangaroos. That's Australia!

The Greens want to keep all of Australia's beautiful places, like its sparkling oceans and green forests, safe and clean for everyone to enjoy, now and in the future. They are like the guardians of Australia's natural wonders!

A long, long time ago, people in Australia started to worry about their environment. They saw beautiful rivers and forests and wanted to protect them. Some special people, like Bob Brown, who was very good at talking about nature, helped start this group.

It was like building with LEGOs, starting with a few small groups and then building a bigger team to help protect the planet. They officially became the Australian Greens in 1992!

The Australian Greens have four main superpowers! First, they are super strong at protecting nature and making sure we don't use up all our resources. Second, they believe everyone should be treated with kindness and fairness, like sharing toys on the playground.

Third, they think everyone's voice should be heard, and decisions should be made by lots of people working together. And fourth, they want peace and no fighting, like when friends solve a problem without arguing.

Right now, the leaders of the Australian Greens are Larissa Waters and Mehreen Faruqi. They are like the captains of a team, guiding everyone to do their best work. They help make sure the group's ideas about protecting the environment and being fair to people are heard by everyone in Australia. They are important people who help the Greens grow and do good things!
