Athena

Imagine a superhero who is super smart and also a great fighter! That's Athena. She's one of the most important goddesses in ancient Greek stories. She's known for being wise, brave, and fair. She loves to help people, especially heroes, and she's also the goddess of crafts like weaving and pottery. She wears a shiny helmet and carries a shield and a spear, ready for action!

Athena had a very unusual birthday. Her dad, Zeus, swallowed her mom! Later, Zeus got a terrible headache, so big that he had to hit his head with an axe. POP! Out came Athena, already a grown-up, wearing armor and shouting! It's like if you suddenly grew up and put on your favorite superhero costume all by yourself. She was born ready for anything!

Athena was super important to the ancient Greeks. They built beautiful temples for her, like the Parthenon in Athens, which is still standing today! People prayed to her for help with schoolwork, for success in battles, and for good ideas. She was like a wise protector and a guide, showing them how to be smart and strong. She even gave the city of Athens its name!

Athena had a special gift for the city of Athens. When the people needed a new protector, Athena and Poseidon, the god of the sea, both offered a gift. Poseidon struck the ground with his trident, and a saltwater spring gushed out.
