Alpamayo

Imagine a super tall, pointy mountain covered in sparkly snow! That's Alpamayo, found way up high in the Andes Mountains in Peru. It's part of a group of mountains called the Cordillera Blanca. The name Alpamayo might come from old words. 'Allpa' means 'earth' and 'mayu' means 'river'. So, it could mean 'earth river'! Another name for it is Shuyturaju, which might mean 'long, slim snow mountain'. It's like the mountain has secret names that tell us about its rocky earth and icy rivers.
