A Sleepy Night Turns Scary!

One night, when everyone was fast asleep, something very dangerous happened at the Pennsylvania Governor's Residence. It's a big, important house where the governor lives with his family. Suddenly, around 2 in the morning, part of the house caught fire! It was a very scary moment, especially because the governor and his family were sleeping right inside. Thankfully, everyone was safe.

Who Did It and Why?

The person who started the fire was a man named Cody Allen Balmer. He was from a town not too far away. He used special bottles filled with fire, called Molotov cocktails, to start the blaze. He told the police he was angry and wanted to hurt the governor. He even had a small sledgehammer, like the kind builders use, in case he saw the governor. It's a good thing the police caught him quickly!

A Special Night for a Scary Event

This fire happened on a very special night called Passover. Passover is a holiday where Jewish families have a big dinner called a Seder to remember an important story from long ago. The governor and his family had just finished their Seder dinner before going to bed. It's extra sad that something so frightening happened on a night meant for family and celebration.

Keeping Our Leaders Safe

The governor is like the leader of the whole state of Pennsylvania. He has a very important job helping everyone. Because leaders have such important jobs, their homes and families need to be kept very safe. This event shows us why it's so important for police and security to protect important places and the people who work there.
