Key Facts
Picking Queensland's Leaders!
In October 2024, the grown-ups in Queensland got to choose who would lead their state for the next few years. It's like picking the captain of your sports team, but for important jobs like looking after schools and hospitals. Everyone who is old enough gets to vote, and their votes help decide who becomes the Premier, who is like the main boss of the state government.
This election was a big deal because it changed who was in charge!
A Big Change in Charge!
Before the election, one team called Labor was running things. But then, another team called the Liberal National Party (LNP) won! Their leader, David Crisafulli, became the new Premier. It was a close race, and they didn't know who won until late at night. The LNP won more than half of the special seats in the government building, which means they got to be in charge. It was a big win for them!
More Than Just Two Teams!
It wasn't just the LNP and Labor playing the game. There were other teams too, like Katter's Australian Party and the Greens. These teams also have people who work in the government building. Sometimes, people who aren't part of a big team, called Independents, can also get elected. It shows that lots of different ideas can be part of making decisions for Queensland.
Why Does This Matter?
When leaders are chosen, they make big decisions about your life. They decide how much money goes to building new playgrounds, fixing roads, or helping doctors and nurses. The election means that the people in charge of these important things have changed. The new leaders have new ideas about how to make Queensland a great place for everyone to live and grow up in.
