Moldova's Big Vote!

Imagine your country needs a leader, like a president! In 2024, the people of Moldova got to choose theirs. They voted on October 20th, and if no one got enough votes, they had another vote on November 3rd. It's like a big popularity contest, but for running a whole country! The person who wins gets to be the leader for a few years.

The main choice was between the current president, Maia Sandu, and a former prosecutor named Alexandr Stoianoglo. Maia Sandu wanted Moldova to be closer to Europe, like making friends with countries such as France and Germany. Alexandr Stoianoglo was seen as being friendlier towards Russia.
