Australia Votes! The Big Election Day!

Australia is a super big island country way, way down under! It's like a giant playground surrounded by blue oceans. It has sunny beaches, amazing deserts, and even tall mountains.

The election happened on a special Saturday, May 21, 2022, when grown-ups went to vote for who they wanted to be in charge of their country for the next few years. It's a bit like choosing captains for your sports team, but for the whole nation!

Before the election, the leaders were from a team called the Liberal-National Coalition, and their boss was Prime Minister Scott Morrison. They wanted to win again, but another team, the Labor Party, led by Anthony Albanese, wanted to be the new leaders. It was a big race!

All the grown-ups who could vote got to pick who they thought would do the best job running Australia. It's like a big popularity contest, but with important decisions!

Guess what? Almost everyone who could vote actually did! It was like if almost every kid in your whole school decided to come to the playground on the same day. Nearly 90 out of every 100 grown-ups voted. That's a LOT of people! They were all excited to have their say in who would lead their country. This election was super important because it changed who was in charge.
