2020 United States Elections

The United States is a HUGE country, like a giant playground with lots of different states! In 2020, people all over these states, from sunny California to snowy Maine, cast their votes. They were choosing who would be the President and who would help make the rules in Washington D.C. It's like picking the captain and the best players for a big team, and everyone gets a say!

The main event was the race for President! Two main people wanted the job: Joe Biden and Donald Trump. People voted for who they thought would be the best leader. It was a super close race, and in the end, Joe Biden won and became the new President. This meant he got to move into the White House, a very famous building in Washington D.C.!

Besides the President, people also voted for who would be in Congress. Congress is like the country's big classroom where important decisions are made. There are two parts: the House of Representatives and the Senate. In 2020, the Democrats won enough votes to be in charge of both parts, which is called a 'trifecta'! This means they got to lead the country's rule-making for a while.

Voting is like a superpower that grown-ups have! In 2020, more people than ever before used their superpower. Because of something called COVID-19, many people voted from home by mail or early, to stay safe. It was a really busy election, and it showed how much people cared about choosing their leaders and making their voices heard!
