Who is the Dalai Lama?
The Dalai Lama is like a very important spiritual teacher for millions of people who follow Tibetan Buddhism. He is seen as a living Buddha, a special person who has chosen to be reborn to help others. His name means 'Ocean of Wisdom'!
He was born in a small farming village and was chosen when he was just a little boy to be the next Dalai Lama. He is a monk and leads a special school of Buddhism called the Gelug school.
A Journey to a New Home
When the Dalai Lama was 15, he became the leader of Tibet. But sadly, his home country faced big problems. In 1959, he had to leave Tibet and travel to India for safety. He now lives in a beautiful place called Dharamshala. Even though he lives far away, he still works hard to help his people and share his message of peace with everyone. He is like a guiding light for many.

The Dalai Lama travels all over the world to share his teachings. He talks about being kind, showing compassion, and living peacefully.
