Zippers weren't always around! A long, long time ago, people used buttons and laces to close their clothes. Then, inventors started dreaming of a faster way.

In the late 1800s, an inventor named Whitcomb Judson created an early version. It was a bit clunky, like a giant hook and eye system. Later, Gideon Sundback made it much better, creating the zipper we know today with its neat rows of teeth.

It took many tries to get it just right!
