Imagine a super-talented kid who loves playing footy! That's Will Ashcroft. He's an Australian rules footballer, which is a super exciting sport played with an oval ball. Will plays for a team called the Brisbane Lions. He's so good, he was picked very early to join the team, like being the first one chosen for a playground game, but way more important!
From Little Kick to Big Leaps!
Will started kicking a footy when he was just six years old, about the same age you might start kindergarten. His dad, Marcus Ashcroft, was also a famous football player! When Will was ten, a team noticed how good he was. He played lots of games in Queensland and then moved to Melbourne to play for a team called the Sandringham Dragons. He was even the captain of that team!
Super Skills and Shiny Medals!
Will is incredibly good at football. He's won two big championship games, called Grand Finals, for his team, the Brisbane Lions. And guess what? He won a special award called the Norm Smith Medal TWICE! This medal is given to the best player in the Grand Final. Winning it once is amazing, but winning it twice is like getting a gold star on every single assignment for two years straight!
Why Will is a Footy Star!
Will Ashcroft is a star because he's super skilled and works really hard. He was even thought to be the best player in his draft year by all the football clubs! This means he has a special talent that makes him stand out. He shows everyone that if you love something and practice a lot, you can achieve amazing things, just like scoring the winning goal!
