Wall Street

Wall Street is a super short street, only about as long as two football fields put together! It's in a big city called New York, way down in the part called Lower Manhattan. Think of it like a tiny lane in a giant playground. This street is so important that its name is used for all the money-making businesses in the whole United States!

A super long time ago, over 300 years back, this street actually had a real wall! It was made of wood and was there to keep people safe. Can you imagine a street with a giant fence? Later, this street became a place where people bought and sold things, like toys or candy, but instead, they were trading important papers called stocks.

Today, Wall Street is like the headquarters for money experts. The biggest place where people buy and sell company shares, called the New York Stock Exchange, is right there! It's so big it's the largest in the whole world. Lots of banks and companies that help people with money also have their offices on or near Wall Street.

People on Wall Street work with money. They help companies grow by selling parts of them called stocks. When you buy a stock, you own a tiny piece of that company! If the company does well, your stock can become worth more money. It's like a giant game of trading, but with real money and real companies!
