Adventures in Fighting for Freedom!

Before World War I, when tanks and airplanes were new, Władysław Sikorski was part of secret groups. These groups wanted Poland to be a free country. He was a great soldier in World War I, fighting in the Polish Legions. Later, he helped the new Polish army win a big war against Russia, called the Polish-Soviet War. He was even a hero in the super important Battle of Warsaw in 1920!

A Leader in Tough Times

Władysław Sikorski became the Prime Minister of Poland, which is like the main boss of the government. He also led the army. But then, a new government came that he didn't agree with, so he had to step away for a while. When World War II started, he became the leader of the Polish government that had to live in other countries. He worked super hard to get help for Poland.

During World War II, Władysław Sikorski was the leader of Polish soldiers fighting far from home. He tried to make friends with the Soviet Union to fight their common enemy. But then, something very sad happened.

The airplane he was flying in crashed right after taking off from a place called Gibraltar. It was a huge mystery, and many people wondered what really happened. His death was a big loss for Poland.
