Vyborg Town Wall

Once upon a time, the town of Vyborg had a giant, strong hug made of stone! This was the Vyborg town wall. It was built a super long time ago, way back in the 1470s. Think of it like a big, protective fence made of rocks and bricks that went all around the town to keep everyone safe. It was like a superhero cape for Vyborg!

This amazing wall started being built in the 1470s. That's even older than your grandparents' grandparents! It was built when Sweden was in charge of Vyborg. For hundreds of years, it stood tall and strong. But then, things changed, and by the 1860s, most of the wall was taken down because it wasn't needed anymore. It’s like when you outgrow a favorite toy!

This wall was super important because it was like Vyborg's bodyguard! It helped protect the people and the town from anyone who might try to cause trouble. Imagine having a giant, friendly monster guarding your house; that's kind of what the wall did for Vyborg. It made people feel safe and sound inside its stone arms.

Even though most of the wall is gone, some pieces of this ancient shield are still there for us to see! And guess what? Two round towers, which were like the wall's special lookout spots, are also still standing. They are like the last brave soldiers of the Vyborg town wall, reminding us of its past strength.
