Voltairine de Cleyre

Voltairine de Cleyre was a very special lady who lived a long time ago, from 1866 to 1912. She was a writer and a speaker who loved poetry and believed in freedom for everyone. Even though she grew up very poor, she taught herself to read and write.

She went to a special school called a convent, which helped her become even smarter and a great storyteller. Voltairine wanted a world where people were treated fairly and had the power to make their own choices, not be told what to do by others.

Voltairine believed in something called anarchism. This doesn't mean chaos or no rules at all! It means she believed people could work together and make decisions without a big government telling them what to do.

She thought everyone should be free to think for themselves and live their lives without being bossed around. She was also a big supporter of women's rights, believing that girls and women should have the same chances as boys and men.

Voltairine was a fantastic public speaker! She traveled around to different places, sharing her ideas with lots of people. She wrote many articles and gave speeches that made people think.

She even taught other people, especially in a city called Philadelphia, about her ideas. She was so good at sharing her thoughts that she became a very important person in the movement for freedom and fairness for everyone.

Even though Voltairine de Cleyre's life was cut short, her ideas about freedom and fairness are still important today. She showed us that one person can make a big difference by speaking up for what they believe in. She was a brave woman who fought for a better world.

People still read her writings and remember her for her courage and her powerful words that encouraged everyone to think about how we can all live together more equally.
