Victoria (ship)

The Victoria was a special ship, like a big wooden boat from a long, long time ago. It was called a carrack. Think of it as a super-strong explorer ship! It was about as big as a school bus, but much taller. This ship was built in Spain and was part of a grand adventure to find new islands and trade. It was given to a brave explorer named Ferdinand Magellan by the King of Spain himself!

In 1519, the Victoria set sail with four other ships. Their mission was to sail west and find islands full of spices. They left Spain and sailed across a huge ocean. It was a very long journey, and not all the ships made it to the spice islands. But the Victoria kept going, even when things got tough. It was a true test of bravery for the sailors on board!

After visiting the spice islands, the Victoria had a very important job: to sail all the way back home. But instead of going the way they came, they sailed across a different, unknown ocean. This was super brave because no one knew exactly what was there!

The Victoria sailed and sailed, crossing vast waters, until it finally returned to Spain in 1522. It was the very first ship ever to sail completely around the Earth!
