Meet the Building Wizard!

Imagine a builder who loved plants and flowers so much, he made buildings look like they were growing! That was Victor Horta. He was a super-talented architect from Belgium who lived a long time ago.

He loved to use curvy lines, like vines, and twisty shapes in his buildings. His most famous style is called Art Nouveau, which means 'New Art'. It was like a breath of fresh air, totally different from anything people had seen before!

Where Did His Ideas Bloom?

Victor Horta got his amazing ideas from looking at nature. He saw how plants twist and turn, how flowers open up, and how vines climb. He thought buildings could be beautiful and exciting, not just plain boxes.

He was inspired by other artists and thinkers who wanted to create new kinds of art. He loved using iron, glass, and steel in clever ways to make his buildings bright and airy, like a greenhouse filled with sunshine.

Why His Buildings Are Super Cool!

Victor Horta's buildings are special because they are so unique and full of life. He used lots of curves and flowing lines, making them look almost alive. He also loved to let in lots of natural light with big windows and special glass roofs, called skylights.

This made the inside of his buildings feel warm and welcoming. Some of his buildings are so amazing, they are now protected as World Heritage sites, like treasures for everyone to see!

Amazing Buildings to See!

One of Victor Horta's first famous buildings is called Hôtel Tassel. It's like a magical house with swirling staircases and decorations that look like plants. He also designed other beautiful homes and even a big train station!

Sadly, some of his buildings were torn down, but many have been saved and are loved today. Visiting them is like stepping into a fairytale where buildings dance and sing with beauty.
