Meet the Feathered Flash!

Velociraptors were super-fast dinosaurs that lived a long, long time ago, during the Late Cretaceous period. They weren't as big as a T-Rex, but they were very clever hunters. Think of them as the speedy sprinters of the dinosaur world! They had long tails that helped them balance when they ran super fast, like a race car driver needs good steering.

Where Did They Roam?

These awesome dinosaurs didn't live everywhere. They mostly stomped around in what is now Asia, especially in places like China and Mongolia. Imagine vast, dry lands with some plants and other dinosaurs to hunt. They liked open spaces where they could use their speed to chase down their dinner. It was a wild world back then!

What Was on the Menu?

Velociraptors were carnivores, which means they loved to eat meat! Their favorite meals were probably smaller dinosaurs and other animals they could catch. They were very good at hunting in packs, working together like a team of super-sleuths to corner their prey. Their sharp teeth and that famous big claw on their foot helped them catch and hold onto their food.

Super-Duper Dinosaur Facts!

Did you know Velociraptors had feathers, just like birds do today? Scientists have found evidence that they were covered in fluffy and maybe even colorful feathers! They were about as tall as a large dog, but much longer, and had a very sharp, curved claw on each foot. This claw was like a built-in knife, perfect for grabbing or slicing. They were truly amazing creatures!
