Welcome to Vassar!

Vassar College is a special place in New York where students go to learn all sorts of amazing things. It's like a big, beautiful park with over 100 buildings! Think of a park bigger than 1,500 football fields all put together. It has so many trees, it's like a giant forest where you can learn about nature and science.

A School Just for Girls?

A long, long time ago, in 1861, a man named Matthew Vassar started Vassar College. It was one of the very first colleges in America where girls could go to get a special degree, like graduating from high school but for grown-ups! For many years, it was a college just for women, which was super unusual back then.

Now Everyone Can Learn!

Guess what? In 1969, Vassar decided to welcome boys too! So now, students of all genders can go there to study. They offer more than fifty different subjects to learn about, from art and music to science and history. It's a place where you can explore almost anything you're curious about!

More Than Just Books!

Vassar isn't just about classes. It has sports teams called the Brewers, and the campus is like a nature wonderland! There are over 200 kinds of trees, a special place for plants that grow naturally, and a huge area called an ecological preserve. It's a place where learning happens everywhere, even outdoors!
