Key Facts
Where is This Giant Learning City?
This amazing place, called the University of New South Wales (UNSW), is in a big, sunny city called Sydney, in Australia! It's like a huge playground for learning, with lots of buildings and green spaces. The main part is not too far from the busy city center, about the same distance as riding your bike to school a few times.
It also has special art buildings in another cool neighborhood and even a campus way down south in a city called Canberra.
When Did This Learning City Start?
This university is not super old, but it's been around for a long time! It first opened its doors in 1949. That's before your parents or even your grandparents were born! Since then, it has grown and grown, becoming a really important place for students to learn all sorts of cool things and for clever people to do important research.
What Do They Do There?
At UNSW, people learn to become doctors, engineers who build bridges, scientists who study stars, and artists who create beautiful things. There are seven big departments, like different schools inside the university, where you can study almost anything you can imagine! They also work with other universities all over the world, sharing ideas like trading cool toys with friends.
Super Smarty Pants Unite!
UNSW is part of a special club with other top universities in Australia called the 'Group of Eight'. It's also in a worldwide team of universities that do lots of research, called Universitas 21. This means they are always trying to discover new things and solve big problems, like finding cures for sicknesses or inventing new ways to travel.
