It's called the Georg August University, named after a king. This school is so important, it's the oldest one in its whole region of Germany. Think of it as the grandparent of all the schools in that area!

Where Did They Come From?

This amazing university started way back in 1734, thanks to King George II. He was the King of Great Britain and also in charge of a place called Hanover in Germany. He wanted a special place for smart people to learn and share ideas.

So, he opened this university, and the first students started learning in 1737. It was like opening a brand new, super-cool library and classroom all at once for the whole country!

Super Smarty Pants Club!

Guess what? This university is famous for having lots and lots of super-smart people who studied there. In fact, 47 people who went to this school have won a Nobel Prize!

A Library Bigger Than Your House!

Inside the University of Göttingen, there's a library that's HUGE! It's called the Göttingen State and University Library. It has so many books, it's one of the biggest libraries in all of Germany.

Imagine a library so big it could hold all the books you've ever read, and then millions more! Students and teachers go there to find information for their studies and research, helping them learn even more cool stuff.
