University of Calcutta

The University of Calcutta is a HUGE school in India, like a giant castle full of classrooms! It's so old, it was built way back in 1857, even before cars were invented. It's like the oldest, biggest library and learning center in that whole part of the world. It has lots and lots of smaller schools, called colleges, all around it, where students go to learn all sorts of amazing things.

This amazing school started a super long time ago, in 1857. Think of it like a seed that was planted and grew into a giant tree. When it first opened, its students came from everywhere, even places far away like Afghanistan and Myanmar!

Now, it's still a very important school, but it mostly helps students in the areas around the city of Kolkata. It's a place where smart people have been learning for over 160 years!

This university is special because so many super smart people went there or taught there! It's like a playground for future leaders and brilliant minds. Some people who studied here even won Nobel Prizes, which are like the biggest awards in the world for smart ideas.
