United States Coast Guard

Imagine a super-team that lives and works on the water! That's the United States Coast Guard. They are like the police of the ocean, making sure everyone follows the rules and stays safe. They have big boats and even planes to help them do their important job all around the United States and even in faraway places.

The Coast Guard started a super long time ago, even before your grandparents were born! It was first created to help collect money from ships coming into the country. Over many years, it grew and added new jobs, like saving people who got into trouble on boats. Now, they are a very important part of keeping America safe on the water.

Did you know the Coast Guard saves thousands of lives every single year? They are amazing at finding people lost at sea or helping boats that are sinking. They also help when big storms happen, like hurricanes, and make sure people are okay. They are always ready to help, no matter what!

To do their jobs, the Coast Guard has lots of cool stuff. They have big ships called cutters that can travel far out into the ocean. They also have smaller boats for getting close to shore and even helicopters and airplanes that can fly super fast to spot trouble. They even have special boats that can break through ice!
