Who Was Uday Hussein?

Uday Hussein was the oldest son of Saddam Hussein, who was the leader of a country called Iraq a long time ago. Uday was known for being very mean and doing things that hurt others. He was supposed to become the next leader after his dad, but he made so many bad choices that his younger brother got to be the leader instead.

Uday was involved in many different jobs, like being in charge of sports teams and a special group called Fedayeen Saddam.

When Sports Teams Went Wrong!

Uday was in charge of sports in Iraq, like the Olympic Committee and the soccer team. But instead of cheering for wins, he made athletes who lost games very scared! He had a secret prison in the basement where he would punish them.

Sometimes, he'd put them in tiny boxes with sharp nails inside, or even drop them into acid! It was like a nightmare for the athletes, and definitely not how sports should be.

Scary Parties and Sad Stories

Uday was also known for having really scary parties. Sometimes, his guards would grab young women from the streets and force them to come to these parties. He was accused of doing very bad things to them. In one really sad story, he even got so angry at his dad's favorite bodyguard at a party that he hit him until he died. This made his dad very angry, and Uday was put in jail for a little while.

A Difficult Life and a Sad End

Because Uday was so wild and mean, his dad decided his younger son, Qusay, would be a better leader. Uday was also hurt badly in an attack, which made it hard for him to walk. When American soldiers came to Iraq, Uday and his brother Qusay were found and sadly, they were both killed after a big fight. It’s a story about someone who made very harmful choices.
