Key Facts
Meet Sudan's Captains!
The Transitional Sovereignty Council is like a special team that leads Sudan. It's made up of people who are chosen to make important decisions for the country. Think of them as the captains of a big ship, steering it through tricky waters. This council started its job in August 2019, and its members are supposed to help Sudan get ready for new leaders chosen by everyone.
A Team That Changes!
This council didn't always look the same! It was first put together with a mix of people from the military and people who were not in the military. But sometimes, things change! In October 2021, the leader of the council made a big change, and the team was put back together with new people. It's like a team changing its players sometimes to try and do better.
Why They're Important!
This council is super important because it helps Sudan move forward. It's like when your teacher helps your class learn new things and get ready for a big test. The council's job is to make sure Sudan is on the right path to having elections where people can choose their leaders. They are helping to build a stronger future for the country.
How the Team is Picked!
Picking the team is a big deal! The council has 11 members in total. Five are chosen by a group called the Forces of Freedom and Change, and five are chosen by the military. Then, one more person is picked by both of those groups working together. For the first part of their job, a military leader was in charge, and later, a civilian leader was supposed to take over.
