Transamerica Pyramid

This amazing building is in a city called San Francisco, in California, which is a state in the United States. It stands tall in the busy downtown area, where lots of businesses are. It's like the pointy tip of a very big cake made of buildings! San Francisco is known for its foggy weather, so sometimes the top of the pyramid disappears into the clouds, like magic!

A super smart architect named William Pereira designed this building. It was built a long, long time ago, in 1972. That's even before your parents were born! It took a special company called Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company to build it. They had to lift lots of materials way up high to make it stand so tall.

The Transamerica Pyramid is super, super tall! It's 853 feet high. That's taller than 80 school buses stacked on top of each other! For a long time, it was the tallest building in San Francisco, but now there's one that's even taller. Still, it's a very impressive sight and looks like a giant triangle reaching for the sky.
