Imagine a big, bouncy donut made of rubber! That's kind of what a tire is. It's the round, black part that goes around the wheel of a car, bike, or truck. Tires are super important because they help vehicles move without bumping around too much. They grip the road so you can steer and stop safely. Without tires, cars would just slide and shake!

Long, long ago, people didn't have tires. They used plain wooden wheels, which were very bumpy! Then, someone had a brilliant idea: what if we put something soft and bouncy around the wheel?

In 1846, Robert William Thomson invented the first pneumatic tire, which is a tire filled with air. This made rides much smoother and more comfortable. Later, people figured out how to make them strong and durable using rubber!

Tires are like superheroes for vehicles! Their main job is to grip the road, which means they hold on tight so the car doesn't slip. This grip helps you steer left or right and also helps you brake to stop.

Tires also act like cushions, absorbing bumps from the road so you don't feel every little pebble. They are the only part of the vehicle that touches the ground, making them incredibly important for safety and a smooth ride.

Tires are made of a special kind of rubber that is strong and flexible. Inside, they have layers of fabric or metal cords that give them shape and strength, like the bones in your body. For cars, tires are filled with air, which makes them bouncy and helps them grip the road.

The pattern on the outside of the tire, called the tread, is like the shoe sole of a car, helping it stick to the pavement.
