Meet Sir Thomas, the Clever Writer!

Long, long ago, in England, lived a very smart man named Thomas More. He was born in 1478, a time when knights and castles were still around! Thomas was a lawyer, which means he knew a lot about rules and laws.

He was also a writer and a thinker. He loved to imagine new ideas and share them with others. He was like a super-brainy detective for society, always trying to figure out how things could be better.

His Amazing Book About a Dream Island!

Thomas More wrote a famous book called 'Utopia'. It's not a real place, but an imaginary island where everything was perfect! On Utopia, everyone was happy, worked together, and shared everything.

There were no greedy people or unfair rules. It was Thomas's way of showing everyone what a truly good and fair society could look like. He wanted people to think about how they could make their own world a better place, just like his dream island.

Standing Tall for What He Believed!

Later in his life, Thomas More became a very important advisor to the King of England, King Henry VIII. But then, the King wanted to do something Thomas didn't agree with. The King wanted to break away from the main church and be in charge of it himself.

Thomas believed he should follow God's rules and the church's rules, not just the King's. He bravely refused to say the King was the boss of the church, even though it made the King very angry.

A Brave Choice and a Big Lesson

Because Thomas More wouldn't change his mind, he got into big trouble. He was put in prison and eventually had to face a very sad end. But before he died, he said he was 'the King's good servant, and God's first.' This means he believed his duty to God was more important than his duty to the King.

Thomas More is remembered today as a saint because he showed everyone how important it is to have strong beliefs and to be brave enough to stick to them.
