Thomas Becket

Once upon a time, there was a man named Thomas Becket. He was super smart and became the King's best friend and right-hand man! He was so good at his job that the King made him the boss of all the churches in England. This was a very important job, like being the principal of a giant school!

But then, Thomas changed! He started to think the Church was more important than the King. He and the King had a huge argument about who was in charge. It was like two friends arguing over who gets to pick the game to play. This disagreement got so big, it caused a lot of trouble.

Sadly, some people who were friends with the King got very angry. They went to the church and hurt Thomas very, very badly. It was a terrible thing to happen. But after he died, people remembered him as a hero who stood up for what he believed in. He was even made a saint!

Thomas Becket is remembered because he showed that even when things get tough, it's important to have strong beliefs. His story teaches us about fairness and how powerful people can sometimes disagree. He became a symbol of the Church's power, and people still visit the place where he was honored.
