Tahiti

Tahiti is a super special island in the Pacific Ocean. It's actually made of two islands joined together, like a butterfly! The bigger part is called Tahiti Nui, and the smaller part is Tahiti Iti. It's a very mountainous place with tall peaks and pretty coral reefs all around. The weather is warm and sunny, perfect for exploring! It's the biggest island in a group called French Polynesia.

People first sailed to Tahiti a very, very long time ago, between 900 and 1100 years! They were brave explorers who navigated the vast ocean. For a long time, Tahiti was a kingdom ruled by its own people. But then, in 1880, France took over and made it a colony. Now, Tahiti is part of France, but the people still have their own language and traditions.

Most of the people living on Tahiti are Polynesians, who have lived there for hundreds of years. There are also people from Europe and China, and many families have mixed heritage. Everyone lives together and shares their culture. The main city is called Papeete, and it's a busy place with lots of shops and people. People love to sing, dance, and share stories!

Tahiti is the most important island for jobs and culture in French Polynesia. Lots of people work in tourism, welcoming visitors from all over the world. They also grow delicious fruits and make beautiful crafts. The main airport, where planes land from far away, is right on Tahiti, making it a busy hub for travel and trade.
