Super Bowl XIV
Key Facts
Meet the Super Bowl Champs!
Super Bowl XIV was a super exciting American football game played a long, long time ago, in 1980! It was between two amazing teams: the Los Angeles Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers ended up winning the game, 31 to 19.
This win was extra special because it made the Steelers the very first team in history to win the Super Bowl four times! That's like winning your favorite game four times in a row!
A Stadium Packed Like a Sardine Can!
This game was played in a giant stadium called the Rose Bowl in California. Guess how many people were there? Over 100,000! That's more people than could fit in a whole bunch of school buses lined up! It was so packed, it set a new record for the most people ever at a Super Bowl game. Imagine all those cheering fans making a huge roar!
Back and Forth Like a See-Saw!
This game wasn't a boring one where one team just kept scoring. Nope! It was like a see-saw, with the lead changing hands seven times! That's a Super Bowl record! Sometimes the Rams were winning, and then the Steelers would catch up and take the lead. It was so close that the Steelers were even behind at halftime, but they came back strong in the second half to win!
The Star Quarterback's Big Day!
The quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers was named Terry Bradshaw. Even though he threw some balls that weren't caught (called interceptions), he played an amazing game! He threw for a lot of yards and even scored two touchdowns with his passes. Because he played so well and helped his team win, he was chosen as the Most Valuable Player, or MVP, of the game!
