Sugarland emerged in 2002 from Douglas, Georgia, not as a pre-packaged act, but as a collaborative effort built on individual artistic foundations. The initial trio comprised Jennifer Nettles, Kristian Bush, and Kristen Hall, each bringing a distinct background in folk-rock. Nettles had fronted the Jennifer Nettles Band and Soul Miner's Daughter, while Bush was known for his work in the duo Billy Pilgrim.
